Volunteer
The volunteer program at the CFS is a three-week minimum commitment (suggested) that focuses on outdoor work in maintenance, campus improvements, and environmental education. Volunteers may work with other volunteers under our maintenance staff and our Land Stewardship Coordinator, Milton Brenes.
Typical volunteer tasks include gardening, working on our campus reforestation projects, trail maintenance, building maintenance, assisting with Environmental Education and Land Stewardship classes, as well as any miscellaneous tasks needed on campus. Past volunteers have also worked on computer networking, teaching music lessons, leading yoga classes, making brochures, working in our library or helping out in our development office. If you have a specific talent or interest that you would like to share, please mention it in your application or cover letter.
The volunteer fee per day is $27 ($10 volunteer fee/day + $17 homestay fee/day).
Volunteers should be 18 years of age to participate in this program.
Parent Work Days/Community Service Days The first Saturday of each month, families of our students are invited to work on campus to fulfill a portion of their annual 72-hour volunteer commitment. Parents and other family members come to help clean classrooms and school facilities, work in trail maintenance or in our campus gardens. Service hours are the first Saturday or each month, 8am-12noon. We also welcome local community members to work alongside the families of our students for a couple of hours. The gift of service contributes to our mission and inspires our students to give back. Thank you!
